06/23/11 HARTING supports PI Training, Cincinnati OH

PI North America provides a series of regional PROFIBUS and PROFINET technology trainings. These free one day seminars are attended by end users, system integrators, OEMs and manufacturers of automation devices. Practical demonstrations are provided alongside the practical details and explanations of the technology. HARTING recently participated in the Cincinnati regional training providing a hands on display of HARTING technology which provides the backbone for PROFIBUS, PROFINET and other Industrial Ethernet technologies. HARTING products designed specifically to withstand the demands of harsh industrial automation environments include rugged IP20 and IP67 connectors, cabling and cordsets and managed/unmanaged switches

06/17/11 HARTING sees the AV explosion at InfoComm

The 2011 InfoComm (Information Communications Marketplace) showcased the latest trends and technologies in the professional AV industry. More than 250 leading professional AV equipment manufacturers presented a range of products from microphones, 3D technologies, networked AV solutions, 4K projection and state of the art lighting products were all on display pushing the envelope of innovation. From multi-screen walls with live HD imaging to professional audio mixing and sound the full spectrum of the audio video experience was on display. Poised for growth and with the need for bandwidth to support these applications, HARTING high speed cabling (fiber optic and Gigabit Ethernet) and rugged filtered and Combo D-sub are ready for the AV challenges of the next generation.

06/16/11 HARTING on the right track at APTA Conference

The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Conference was held in Boston, MA from June 13th thru June 15th, 2011. The conference provided seminars and overviews covering subjects ranging from advances in track signaling, passenger information systems, future trends in rolling stock, and positive train control (PTC). With the significant increase in use of sophisticated passenger information systems and the rapid growth in implementing positive train control, HARTING is well positioned to provide highly reliable solutions for these rack based systems including board / device / and systems connectivity (DC 1, Han, Han Modular, Han Eco), HIS, VAB, and ICPN (Ethernet switches, DC 2). 06/05/11 HARTING goes high speed at USHSR Conference

The United States High Speed Rail Association (USHSR) Conference was held in Chicago, IL from June 1st thru June 3rd, 2011. The event provided an update on the progress being made on various corridor initiatives and the economic challenges facing its implementation in the United States. High or ”higher” speed rail is coming to our shores and all of the major suppliers of high speed rail vehicles use rectangular Han style connectors. Whether it is pure electric high speed rail or diesel electric “higher” speed rail, HARTING has solutions for interior (IP65) and exterior (IP67/68) for all power, signal, and communications connectivity requirements. HARTING is the industry leader positioned to harvest the emerging opportunities provided by high speed rail.

05/27/11 HARTING is a force at the AWEA Expo

The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) Exposition was held in Anaheim, CA from May 22nd thru May 25th, 2011. This event focuses on all of the technologies, products, and services required for using wind to generate electricity. All major areas of wind turbine technology were on display including direct drive, advanced pitch & yaw controls, inverters, generators, and base station controls. There is a growing demand for corrosion resistant products for offshore applications and low cost solutions being driven by international competition from global wind turbine and systems suppliers. The rectangular Han style connector is the “standard” for electrical connectivity in this industry. Growing needs and creative solutions provide HARTING with opportunities for systems / device connectivity (Han, Han-Modular, Han-Eco, and Han-HPR), VAB, and ICPN (Ethernet switches, DC-2). 05/20/11 Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) gives HARTING a look into the future

The 2011 Network Summit & Exhibition focused on the fast changing and evolving Telecommunications market place. CTO’s, government regulators and other key industry personnel gathered at the event to determine how the telecommunication industry would support the next generation of challenges. With the increase in usage of smart phones, tablets and cloud networks, the bandwidth requirements for Telecom networks are growing exponentially. Converged networks including mobile backhaul, video and data, and smart grid utility are in strong demand and are coinciding with the growth of 4G/LTE systems.

HARTING’s ruggedized and easy to install cabling will secure a lasting footprint in the telecom industry.

04/14/11 HARTING finds a niche at the NAB Show

The 2011 NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) show focused on the production, post-production (editing, mixing, and effects generation) and distribution of digital content, primarily for broadcast television. The show’s central theme is integration, specifically of art and technology. 3D cameras, displays and monitors were ubiquitous at this year’s event as was the growing focus on live 3D broadcast. The demand for hi-definition content drives the need for increased bandwidth and data rates. Many smaller support systems are built around standard board to board connectivity. HARTING board level products (DIN 41612, har-bus HM and har-flex) as well as high speed cabling (10Gbit/s field installable RJI and fiber optic) are strong fits for multiple applications in this market.

03/31/11 HARTING attends APEC event

The Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC) was held in Fort Worth, TX from March 5th - March 10th 2011. The APEC event focused on both practical and applied aspects of the power electronics business. Digital power and Solar PV power were among the growing market segments highlighted at the event. HARTING’s portfolio of rugged, modular power connectivity is well suited to handle the demands of the low and medium voltage power demands across these growing industries.

03/16/11 HARTING supports ODVA

HARTING participated in the annual ODVA conference held from March 3/1 – 3/4/11 in Glendale AZ. As an active member of ODVA, HARTING contributes to the development of standards and specifications to support network technologies based on the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP). HARTING further supports ODVA through its involvement in Special Interest Groups and Workshops. A number of HARTING products are applicable to ODVA standards, highlighted by the RJ Industrial line of products.

01/21/11 Plasa Members Recognize HARTING Products as Reliable and Easy to Install

Plasa, the lead international membership body for those who supply technologies and services to the event, entertainment and installation industries, held a recent working group meeting in Westlake, TX Jan 21st – 24th. At these meetings attendees discuss standards for rigging, hoists, power distribution and control networks for live entertainment and installations. These meetings have opened up North American companies to the benefits of the reliability and easy to install HARTING products. HARTING has been asked to provide further support to these efforts including participation in the industries Plugfest in July to provide a ‘hands on’ introduction to HARTING Fast Track Switching technology.

01/07/11 Mezzanine focus for VITA

The Vita Standards Organization (VSO), developers of the VME64x specification built around the HARTING har-bus 64 connector, have in recent months proposed four new standards built around Mezzanine connectors. Minimizing size and weight without impacting product performance is a rising trend across the embedded product industry. The demand for mezzanine connectors and solutions such as the new har-flex product family will be strong for years to come.

12/03/10 HARTING Plays Major Role in PICMG Testing

PICMG , a leading standards organization for the communications, industrial and embedded computer industries, recently announced the successful completion of the “MicroTCA Conduction Cooled” testing. The MTCA.3 subsidiary specification of MicroTCA targets to defense and aerospace applications with extreme requirements for vibration, shock and temperature range based on MIL-STD-801. The goal was to show that the card edge connector system meets the stringent environmental requirements for the target markets. HARTING led this effort and the HARTING MicroTCA Backplane connector is the ONLY connector that has been passed the ruggedized environmental test according to the draft specification MTCA.3.
